1. What cookies and similar tools are

Cookies and similar tools (browser local storage, map tiles, browser geolocation) make NearFor.me work, remember your preferences and — only with your consent — measure how the site is used and show maps. This page lists every tool we use, who runs it and how long it lasts. We do not use advertising cookies to show you ads.

2. Who decides on cookie use

3. Strictly necessary (always on)

Essential for the site to work and stay secure; no consent needed:

• accessToken / refreshToken (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax cookies): keep you signed in; they last 6 hours and 7 days (30 with “remember me”).
• nf_lang: remembers the language chosen in the top-right selector; lasts 12 months.
• nf_consent-v1 (local storage): your consent choice, see point 7.
• nf_seed (local storage): a random number that keeps the order of results stable while you browse; it contains no personal data.
• nf_recent_v1 (local storage): the last listings you opened, shown again on the home page; they stay in your browser and are never sent.
• nearfor-lab-* (local storage): which of two versions of a listing you were shown; our server only receives the version and the click, without cookies or identifiers, to learn which works better.

The site cannot work without these tools: basic browsing always remains possible, even if you reject everything else.

4. Preferences (with consent only)

• nearfor-saved-* (browser local storage): venues saved as favourites.
• nearfor-theme-* (local storage): graphic customisation previews.

If refused, saves last for the current session only and are not kept on the device.

5. Statistics (with consent only)

• Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited), loaded through Google Tag Manager and our own server statistics.nearfor.me: cookies _ga and _ga_EDCX7JXFG1 on nearfor.me, lasting 400 days. It measures page views, searches, contacts, sign-ups and payments started or completed.
• Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited): cookies _clck (1 year) and _clsk (1 day) on nearfor.me, plus Microsoft cookies MUID, MR, SM, SRM_B and ANONCHK on the clarity.ms and bing.com domains (from one session to 13 months). It anonymously records how the page is used (movements, clicks, scrolling) so we can improve it.

The Google Tag Manager script is downloaded before you choose, but without consent it sends no measurements and sets no cookies. If you reject statistics, Google Analytics and Clarity do not start.

6. Marketing and third parties (with consent only)

• Google conversion linking (_gcl_ls, local storage): links a visit that came from a Google campaign to the sign-up or payment that follows.
• OpenStreetMap map tiles (a/b/c.tile.openstreetmap.org servers): loaded only after consent; until then a placeholder invites you to manage your preferences.
• Browser geolocation (“Near me”): your precise position is requested only after consent and used once to centre the search.

External websites. To pay you move to a Stripe page; to book an experience you move to the partner’s website (for example Tiqets). Their own cookies and privacy notice apply there.

7. Stored consent choice

The banner choice (Accept all, Reject, Customise) is stored on the device (nf_consent-v1) until withdrawn or site data is cleared; it is re-asked at most every 6 months.

8. How to change your choices

• On the site: “Manage consent” footer link, “Legal” column, at any time with immediate effect on future processing.
• In the browser: clearing cookies and site data in settings; equivalent to withdrawing consent for future processing.

Refusal never blocks browsing: only necessary tools stay on, while maps, precise location, permanent saves and statistics stay off until a positive choice.
